Sir Marmaduke de Thwenge, Knight, was born and baptized at Kilton Castle in 1225. He was of Kilton and Kirkleatham, and aquired the manor of Danby in the right of marriage to his wife Lucía de Brus. In 1257, he obtained a charter of free warren in his manors of Thwing, Kirkleathan, Kilton and Moorsom, besides weekly markets at his manors of Lund, Thwing and Coatham, with yearly fairs there as well. He died in 1279, and was buried the the chancel of Ginborough Priory.

Marmaduke de Thweng was called a royal knight banneret in 1260 and 1261, when he was granted robes by the King. In 1262, he went on pilgrimage to Santiago in Spain. He was summoned, 1264, to join the King under arms and was captured at the battle of Lewes by Hugh le Despenser, to whom he owned a ranson of 700 marks. He was again summoned for service, this time against the Scot in 1258, later in 1264 amd 1293 to take up arms for the King against the Welsh. In 1257, he was granted the right to hold markets and fairs in Lund, Thwing and Coatham.

Marmaduke married, sometime around 1242, Lucy, the second daughter of Piers de Brus, lord of Sketon, Yorkshire and his wife Hawise, daughter and coheir of William Lancaster, lord of Kendal, Westmoreland. Marmaduke died sometime between 1282 and 1284. His wife Lucy was alive on Easter, 1282.

Marmaduke married Lucia de Brus, daughter of Piers de Brus of Skelton and Helwise de Lancaster, on 27 Sep 1237 in Yorkshire, England ¹⁴¹.^,770 (Lucia de Brus died in 1272 in Yorkshire, England ⁷⁷⁰.)
