• Background Information. 770 Lucía de Bruss, was the daughter and coheir of Peter de Brus, II, Lord of Skelton and (according to the Visitation of Yorkshire)*, Helewise, the eldest daughter of Peter de Merley, sister and co-heir of her brother Peter de Brus III. Lucía and Marmaduke were married 27 Sep 1238. She had the lands of Brotton and Danby. On the death of her brother, Peter, she obtained the patronage of Guisborough priory, jointly with her sister Agnes, the wife of Walter de Fauconbergh.
