Noted events in his life were:
• Background Information. 252 Juan de Archuleta was an outstanding citizen, like his father before him. He too, was most active as a captain in the political life of the times, especially in the drawn out affair which ended in the assassination of Governsor Rosas in 1642. As Regidor of New México at the time, he belonded to the anti-Rosas faction. He was beheaded on the plaza of Santa Fé by order of Governor Pacheco for his part in the murder of Governor Rosas.
Juan de Archuleta inscribed his name in 1632 and again in 1636 on El Morro (Inscription Rock).

"Pasamos por aqui el Sargento Mayor y el Capitán Juan de Archuleta y Ayudante Diego Martin Barba y el Alfarez Augstín de Ynojos año de 1636."
"We passed by here, the Sargeant Major and Captain Juan de Archuleta and Adjutant Diego Martin Barba and Ensign Agustin de Ynojos, the year of 1636.
