Noted events in his life were:
• Background Information. 130 David I, king of Scotland, son of Malcolm III and St. Margaret, the only sister of Edgar Atheling, was made Earl of Huntingdon due to his marriage. As Earl, he made grants to St. Andrew's Northampton. On 25 Apr 1124, he succeeded his brother Alexander I, as King of Scotland. He kept his English earldon, and joined in 1127 with the barons who support Empress Maud to succeed her father as the soverign of England. David took up arms against Stephen in Maud's support. In about 1136, David made peace with Stephen, and passed the Earldom of Hunting onto his son, Henry, who did homage to Stephen.
David was married to Maud, widow of Simón St. Liz, Earl of Huntingdon. Maud died before her husband in 1130/31, and was buried at Scone. David lived until 24 May 1153, when he died at Carlisle, and was buried along with his ancestors at Dunermline.

• Background Information. 871 David, "the Saint," youngest son of Malcolm Ceannmore was born about 1080. He married in about 113/4, Matilda, daughter and heir of Waltheof, Earl of Huntingdon, grandaughter of Siward, Earl of Northumberland, and widow of Simóm St. Liz. David died at Carlisle, 24 May 1153, at about seventy-three years old, and was buried at Dunfermline. His wife died about 1130/1, and was buried at Scone, but this might be incorrect since her name appears in a charter from about 1147. By her he had the following children:
• Malcolm, said to have been strangled when he was a child by Donald Ban, his half-uncle. • Claricia, died unmarried • Hodierna, died unmarried • Henry, Earl of Northumberland and Huntingdon, married in 1139, Ada, daughter of William, Earl of Warrene, second Earl of Surrey. Henry died before his father, 12 June 1152, and was buried at Kelson. His wife died in 1178.
