Henry of Scotland, younger son of David I, King of Scotland, became the Earl of Huntingdon on the resignation of his father in 1136. He recieved the Earldom of Northumberland once peace was made between England and Scotland in 1139. He became a favorite of King Stephen, of England, and remained with him in England with him for some time. He married Ada, the daughter of William de Warenne, Earl of Surrey, by Isabel, daughter of Hugh, comté de Vermandois. He died 12 Jun 1152 and was buried at Kelso. Isabella de Wareene, died in 1178, the year she founded the Nunnery of Hadington.
Henry has been described as handsome in body and virtuous of life, beloved by all, devout towards God and most compassionate to the poor. [Fordun, ut surpa, p. 452] Of Henry's and Ada's three sons, the two oldest, Malcolm and William became successively Kings of Scotland and Earls of Huntindon, and the youngest, David, also carried the title of Earl of Huntindon. His eldest daughter Ada, married Florence, Count of Holland in 1162. His daughter Margaret married Conan IV, Duke of Brittany in 1159, and was mother of Constance of Brittany. His third daughter died unmarried in 1152.

Earl of Northumberland and Huntingdon, married in 1139, Ada, daughter of William, Earl of Warrene, second Earl of Surrey. Henry died before his father, 12 June 1152, and was buried at Kelson. His wife died in 1178. Their children were:
• Malcolm, afterwards, Malcolm IV, "the Maiden"
• William, Afterwards William "the Lion"
• David, Earl of Huntingdon, b. about 1144, m. 26 Aug 1190, Maud, daughter of Hugh, Earl of Chester. David died at Jerdelay, 17 Jun 1219.
• Ada, married in 1161 to florent III, Count of Holland.
• Margaret, was first married in 1160 to Conan IV, Duke of Brittany, Earl of Richmond, and she was married, second, to Humphrey de Bohun, Earl of Hereford.
