Richard Talbot, younger brother of Sir Gilbert Talbot, 1st Lord Talbot, and 2nd son of Richard Talbot, by (it is said) Sarah, sister of William de Beauchamp, Earl of Warwick, daughter of William de Beauchamp, of Elmley, co. Worcester, was born before 1288, and was going with the King of hiw service to Scotland, 16 Apr 1314.

In consequence of his marriage, about 1317, Sir Richard Talbot became, in his wife's right, of Richard's Castle. Being in arms with the Barons confederated agains the Despensers, he took part, with the Earl of Hereford, his brother Gilbert Talbot and others, in the burning of Bridgnorth, Jan, and fought as a kinght at the ensuing battled of Boroughbridge, 16 Mar 1321/2. He had a protection for one year, going to Aquitaine on the King's service, 26 Aug 1324, and was still in Gascony, Nov 1325. As Talbot "le Uncle" he made Keeper of the Honours of Peverel, Boulogne, Rayleigh and Haughley, 3 Mar 1327/8. He was never summoneed to Parliment.

Sir Richard Talbot married (about 1317 or before 1 Aug 1320), Joan, widow of Thomas de Bykenore (who died between 10 Oct and 30 Dec 1316), 1st daughter and coheir of Hugh de Mortimer, Lord Mortimer, of Richard's Castle, by Maud, a niece of William le Marshal. Richard Talobot died shortly before 10 Oct 1328, and was buried with his grandfather, Gilbert Talbot, in Wormesley Priory, co. Hereford. His widow, who was born at Caephilly Castle and baptized there 24 Nov 1292, died shortly before 12 Jan 1340, at age 49,

Richard married Joan Mortimer, daughter of Hugh Mortimer and Maud.141 (Joan Mortimer was born before 24 Nov 1291 in Caephilly Castle, Cardiff, Glamorganshire, Wales 141, baptized on 24 Nov 1291 141 and died before 12 Jan 1241 in Richard's Castle, Ludlow, Herefordshire, England 141.)
