• Background Information. 141 Sir John Talbot, of Richard's Castle, 2nd son and heir, was born 29 Sep 13[17-18]. Shortly after his marriage, he was made heir of entail to his mother's lands, 14 & 15 Feb 1329/30, his elder brother Richard's right of succession being postponed in his favor; and on suceeding his mother, he did homage before 7 Feb 1340/1, when he was of full age. He fought in the 2nd division at the battle of Crécy, 26 Aug 1346, and was in the retinue of the Earl of Lancaster at the siege of Calais in 1347, being then a Knight. He was never summoned to Parliment.
Sir John Talbot married, shortly before 14 Feb 1329/30, Juliane, daughter of Sir Roger de Grey,1st Lord Grey (of Ruthin), by Elizabeth, daughter, and in her issue heir of Sir John Hastinges, 1st Lord Hastinges (of Abergavenny). Sir John Talbot died 20 Sep 1355 and his widown, Juliane, died 29 Nov or 1 Dec 1361.
