• Background Information. 804 Henry de Trafford, of Trafford, occurring in several deeds, who lived in the reigns of Henry II, and Richard I, and died after the year 1200, leaving a son, Richard de Trafford.

• Background Information. 720 Henry, son of Henry, made additions to the patrimonial estates by acquisition of lands in Sale from Thomad de Hyde, in Withington from Nigel de Longford, and in Chorlton and Beswick from the Abbot of Cockersand. He was living during the reigns of Henry II and Richard I, and appears to have died at an advanced age about the year 1200, leaving a son Richard, who succeed him.

• Background Information. 1307 "This Henry de Trafford, by that only name, received lands from divers, viz: from Thomas de Hyde in Sale, from Nigel de Longford in Withington, from the Abbot of Cockcrsand in Chorlton and Bexwicke, anno Dom. 1200, from Richard Fitz None in Stretford, from Roger de Pendlebury in Yield-houses, from Matthew Fitz Gulielmi in Aldehulme, from Robert de Chorlton in Chorlton, and many others, &c. Hee lived in the end of King Steeven his raigne, and in the raigne of Henry the 2nd and Rich, the Ist untill about the yeare 1190 or thereabouts as appeareth by deeds to him granted. He left a son called Rich. He died Ad. 1200" (about 1221. He was the Henry named in Testa de Nevill about 1210)

• Records. 1525 "1205. Henry de Traford pays 20s. relief for half a carucate in Traford, and has livery. His predecessor unfortunately is not named. [Fine Roll, 7 John, m. 10.]
"1212. Henry de Trafford a juror at the great Lancashire survey. He is returned as holding 4 bovates in thanage (Trafford, that is; but the place is not here mentioned), 5 bovates in Chorlton under Gospatric, and 2 bovates in Stretford under Hamon de Maci. [Knights' fees, B. I, No. 9.]
"1221. Richard son of Henry de Trafford pays 20/. relief for half a carucate in Trafford, late of his father, and has livery. [Fine Roll, 6 Henry III. in. 9.]"
