Philip de Bostock

   Another name for Philip was Edward de Bostock.

~George Ormerod's The History of County Palatine and City of Chester, Vol. III, p. 259, Ormerod says the the person of this generation may be Philip de Bostoc, lord of Bostoc who occurs 44 and 54 Henry III. He also states that some pedigrees give "Sir Edward Bostok" in this generation instead of Philip. ⁷¹³

In 1260, Philip de Bostock and Amice, daughter of William de Bostock, occur, (with Gervase de Medio Wico, the Abbot of Basingwerk, and the prioress and convent of the nuns of Chester, and other), in a suit for dower of lands in Roucristelton, brought by Margery, widow of William, son of Walter [Plea Rolls].

In 1260, the lord Philip de Bostoc occurs as son and apparently heir of William, as a witness to a grant by Alice, widow of Richard de Hellesby, to Hugh de Bostoc, of 2s. annual rent in Bridgestrete, Chester to hold the said Hugh, his heirs, begotton of Hawise, his wife, daughter of said Alice. [Test. Petro de Thornton, Har. Mass. 2079, fo. 27]

This Philip de Bostoc was probably heir of William, grandson of Warin, and ancestor of the family.

Sir Edward (or Philip) Lord of Bostoc, occurs 44 and 54 Henry III (1260 & 1270), married Maria, daughter of Matthew de Vernon.

Philip married Mary de Vernon, daughter of Matthew de Vernon and Unknown. (Mary de Vernon was born in 1265 in Shipbrook, Cheshire, England.)
