William and Alice were the parents of Amabel Fitz William, heiress of Copeland & Egremont, Cumberland who married Reynold de Lucy. 160

William acquired rights in Allerdale, Cumberland, held by his maternal uncle Waltheof [Keats-Rohan, K. S. B. (2002) Domesday Descendants: A Prosopography of Persons Occurring in English Documents 1066-1166. II. Pipe Rolls to Cartæ Baronum (Boydell) ("Domesday Descendants"), p. 880. ]. A charter of King Henry II records donations to York St Mary, including the donation of rights relating to "ecclesiam S. Begæ…et terram de Hothneth" by "Willielmus filius Duncani" [Dugdale Monasticon III, York St Mary, V, p. 548]. "…Willelmo filio Duncani…" witnessed a charter dated to (circa 1128) by which "David… Rex Scottorum" made grants to the church of St John in the castle of Roxburgh [Early Scottish Charters LXXXIII, p. 69. ]. The Cronicon Cumbriæ records that "Ethreda sorore Waldevi patris sui" married "Doncani comes de Murrayse" and that their son "Willielmus" succeeded his cousin "Alanus filius Waldevi" [Dugdale Monasticon III, Wetherall Priory, Cumberland, XVI, Cronicon Cumbriæ, p. 585].
William Fitz Duncan married Alice de Rumily Lady of Skipton, daughter of William "le Meschin" Lord of Copeland and his wife Cecily de Rumilly Lady of Skipton. A manuscript genealogy of William de Forz Comte d'Aumâle names "Aliciam de Rumeleya" as daughter of "Willielmus de Mechines primus hæres de Sciptun in Craven", adding that she married "Willielmo filio Duncan" and was buried "apud Fontes" [Dugdale Monasticon V, Melsa Abbey, Yorkshire, VII, Genealogia Fundatoris, p. 394]. "Willielmus filius Dunecani nepos regis Scotiæ…et Aeliz de Rumeili uxor mea" confirmed donations of property to Bolton Priory by undated charter [Dugdale Monasticon VI, Bolton Priory, Yorkshire, IV, p. 203]. "Aaliz de Rumelli" donated property to Pontefract Priory, with the consent of "Willielmi filii mei", for the soul of "domini mei Willielmi filii Dunecani", by undated charter [Dugdale Monasticon V, Pontefract Priory, Yorkshire, XIV, p. 125].
William married Alice de Rumilly, daughter of William le Meschin and Cecily de Rumilly. (Alice de Rumilly died in 1187 160.)
