• Background Information. 755 Frederic the second's parentage is stated in Laurentii Gesta Episcoporum Virdunensium [2, MGH SS X, p. 492] with "filius huius Theodrici fuit in iunio Federici, qui mortuus est ante patrem suun," as well at it giving the names of his two daughters. He was duke during the lifetime of his father. He allied himself with Folulques III Comté d'Anjou in order to support his father against Eudes II Comté de Blois.
His death is given in Necrology Verdun Saint-Vanne, [p. 140] as "XV Kal Jun" of "Fredericus dux." he married Methilde of Swabia who was the widow of Conrad, Duke of Carinthis, and daughter of Hermann II Duke of Swabia and his wife Gerberga of Upper Burgundy.
