Alan de la Zouche, 4th Baron Zouche, of Ashby la Zouche, Leicestershire, died 10 Aug 1270. He married sometime before 1242, Elena de Quincy who was born in Winchester, Hampshire about 1222, and died shortly before 20 Aug 1296, as the third daughter and coheiress of Roger de Quincy, wnd Earl of Winchester, and Helen of Galloway.

Alan de la Zouche served in Gascony, 1242/43. and in 1250 he was Justice of Chester and the four cantrefs of North Wales. he served as Justiciar of Ireland from 1256-58, Justice of the Forest South of Trent, constable of Rockingham Castle and Sheriff of Northamptonshire in 1261-1264. He was warden of the City and Constable of the Tower of London in 1267/68. He died of injuries infliced by the 7th Earl of Surrey, with whom he was a party to a lawsuit. Two of his children were:

Margery la Zouche, of Winchester, Hampshire, b. cir. 1251; m. Roger Fitz Roger, 5th Baron Warkworth and Clavering, who d. Horsford, Norfolk, before 20 Apr 1310.

Alan la Zouche, son and heir of Roger la Zouche, was to have seisin of his lands after doing homage on 16 Jun 1238. He served the King in Gascony in 1242/43. Records show that he was granted a weekly market and yearly fair at Swavesy, 26 Jun 1244, and at Ashby, 4 May 1261. He was Justice of Chester and of the four cantreds in North Wales, 2 July 1250, and continued as Deputy under Prince Edward, Feb 1254-Oct 1255. He was chosen to mediate between Llewellyn, Prince of North Wales and his brother David, 31 Jan 1253/54. He served Prince Edward in Ireland early in 1256, and was made Justiciar of Ireland before 27 Jun 1256 until shortly before 12 Oct 1258. During the Barons Wars, he stood firmly behind the King.

Sir Alan le Zouche was granted a pension of 50 marks a year, 4 Apr 1261, was Justice of the forest South of Trent and Constable of Rockingham Castle, 12 Jun 1261-64, and Constable of Northampton Castle, 12 Jun 1261-64 & 28 Feb-Jun 1267. As Sheriff of North and, 9 Jul 1261-64, he was sent to defend the march of Wales against Llewellyn on Dec 1262. He was Warden of the City and Constable of the Tower of London, Jun 1267-Apr 1268.

Sir Alan le Zouche married sometime before 1242 to Ellen, the 3rd daughter and coheir of roger de Quincy, 2nd Earl of Winchester, Constable of Scotland and his first wife, Helen, coheir of Alan, Lord of Galloway, Constable of Scotland. During a lawsuit against John de Warenne, he was violently assaulted by John de Warenne before the Justices in Westminster Hall on the Octave of St. John (1 July) 1270. He died 10 Aug 1270 from the wounds he recieved from John de Warenne. His widow recieved Brackley and was patron of the Hospital there. She died shortly before 20 Aug 1296.

Alan married Elena de Quincy, daughter of Sir Roger de Quincy 2nd Earl of Winchester Earl of Winton and Elena of Galloway 141.,722 (Elena de Quincy was born in England and died Shortly before 20 Aug 1296 in England 160.)
