• Background Information. 141 William de Mohun, second, by first surving son and heir. He first comes into notice circa 1142, when he attested to his father's charter to bruton. the Empress Maud's grant of earldom to his father apparently was not recognized by Stephen, for William is never styled Earl. he was the benefactor to his father's foundation at Brunton and confirmed the gifts of his father and grandfather at Bath. He married Godehold, sometimes called Godehut. He died in 1176 and Godehut appear to have died by 1186.

• Background Information. 160 William de Mohun, seein in 1142 and dead in 1176, held the barony of Dunster, Somerset. He married Godehut de Toeni who died before 1186, and was the daughter of Roger III de Toeni, lord of Flamstead, Hertfordshire, by his wife, Ida de Hainaut, daughter of Baldwin III, Count of Hainaut. Godehut's maritagium, the manor of Brinkley, Cambridge, shows her identity to be Toeni. This manor came into possession of the Toeni family upon the marriage of Godeheut's grandmother Alice of Northumberland to Ralph IV de Toeni.
