• Background Information. 732 Sir Robert de Swynnerton succeeded his father in 1361 as Lord of Swynnerton. He was married twice, 1st to Elizabeth, daughter and sole heiress of Sir Nicholas Beck, Knight and Lord of Tene and hopton, in Staffordshire, who died before 1374. They had one daughter named Matilda who succeeded to her mother's inheritance, consisting of the manors of Hopton and Tene as well as lands in Staffordshire. She was married to Humphrey de Peshale, and 2nd to William de Ipstones. Sir Robert's second wife was was named Joan, and they had a son named Thomas who became Robert's son and heir, and was the ancestor of future Swynnertons.

• Background Information. 821 Sir Robert de Swinnerton, knight and fourth Lord Swinnerton, son and heir to Sir Roger and Maud de Holland, married Elizaeth de Beke (Beek) daughter and coheir of Sir Nicholas Beke, Knight, of Hopton in St. Mary's, Staffordshire and Tean in checkley, Staffordshire, Sheriff of Staffordshire and his wife Joan de Stafford, daughter of Sir Ralph de Stafford, Knight of the Gater and 1st Earl of Stafford.

• Background Information. 141 Robert, was called lord of Swinnerton in 1370 when he obtained a parton for outlawry. In Oct 1374, he had protection while going overseas. He was made a knight of the shire for Staffordshire at the parliament that met at Gloucester on 20 Oct 1374. He married, 1st, in or before 1356, Elizabeth daughter and hier of Sir Nicholas Beck. He married, 2nd, Joan. He died sometime before 12 Nov 1396, when his widown is recorded as having a dower.
