He was at the time being held a prisoner accused of treason against his nephew, the King. On 6 Oct, the King ordered prayers to be said for his soul, and on 14 Oct ordered that his body should be given to his widow for burial at Westminister Abbey, where it was interred in the Chapel of St. Edmund the King of St. Thomas of Canterbury, and reburied near St. Edward in 1399 by Henry IV. Eleanor his widow, died 3 Oct 1399 at the Minoresses Convent in Aldgate and was buried in St. Emund's Chapel in Westminster Abbey. Her will was dated 9 Aug 1399 at Pleshey, in which she is styled "Duchess of Gloucester, Countess of Essex, etc."
