• Background Information. 141 Hugh Fitz Osbern, son of Osbern Fitz Richard, married Eustache de Say an heiress, and they founded Westwood nunnery in co. Worcester as a cell to Fontevrault.

• Background Information. 1121 "Osbern Fit Richard was seized of numerous Manors, held under the King or the Earl of Shrewbury, and in the Counties of Herefordshire, Shropshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Bedfordshire. Of all these, his father had held five in the Confessor's reign, while Osbern himself had held two in Worcestershire, sixteen in Herefordshire, and two in Shropshire at the same early period. The remainder had been acquired since the Conquest." Osbern Fitz Richard was succeeded by his son Hugh Fitz Osbern, who was living at the time of Henry I.
