• Web Reference: Charles Cawley's Medieval Lands. Gwenynwyn succeeded his father, Owain ap Gruffydd, as Prince of Southern Powys. King John agreed to free "Wennuen filium Hoeni de Keneliac" in return for hostages by charter dated 8 Oct 1208 [Fœdera (1816), Vol. I, Part I, p. 101]. Gwenynwyn abdicated in 1215, and married Margaret Corbet, daughter of Robert Corbet of Caus & his wife --- (-after 15 Apr 1231). Eyton records her parentage and marriage but does not cite the corresponding primary source[Eyton, R. W. (1858) Antiquities of Shropshire (London), Vol. VII, p. 15].
Margaret married Gwenwynwyn ab Owain Prince of South Powys, son of Owain Cyfeiliog ap Gruffydd and Gwenllian verch Owain.699 (Gwenwynwyn ab Owain Prince of South Powys was born about 1165 in Powys, Montgomeryshire, Wales and died in 1216 in Wales 1013.)
