• Background Information. 141 Andrew of Astley, of Astley and Bentley, co. Warwick, son and heir of Sir Thomas of Astley, of the same, by his 1st wife, Joan, daughter of Ernald du Bois, of co. Leicester, succeeded his father (who was slain at Evensham) 4 Aug 1265, and was by the compostition called the dictum de Kenilworth, on payment of a fine, put into possession of his father's estates, which had been confiscated. He was in the Scottish wars and at the Battle of Falkirk.

• Pedigree. 1245 Pedigree found in Art, Identity and Devotion in the Fourteenth Century England: Three Women and Their Books of Hours, by Kathryn Ann Smith, p. 24 shows Emma de Bois married to Nicholas de Haversham. She is the younger sister of Joan, married to Thomas de Astley and Arnold VII de Bois (1 Apr 1277) married to Alice, daughter and heir of Henry de Tubney of Oxon. Their parents are given as Arnold VI de Bois (6 Feb 1255) and Joan, co-heir Eva de Gray of Standlake and Dornford, Oxon, and co-heir of John de Beauchamp of Assington, Suff. Arnold VI is given as the son of Arnold V de Bois by his wife, sister of Roger de Bassingham. Arnold V is the son of Arnold IV de Bois (1184) and his wife Emma, daughter of Pain de Houghton. Arnold IV is given as the son of Arnold III de Bois (1147) and Isabel, daughter and heir of Roger Watterville. Arnold III is preceeded by his father, Arnold II of Normandy and England, and his grand father Arnold I of Normany.
