Elizabeth Penn, widow of William Hammond left her estate in London, along with her four children, to travel to New England. They arrived in Boston on the ship "Griffin," on 18 Sep 1834. John Lonthrop, their minister, was also on this ship.
Elizabeth Penn Hammond lived in Boston and in Watertown until the year of 1638. She then moved to Scituate to join Reverand John Lothrops church. She was the thirty-thrid member when she joined 16 Apr 1638. The next she returned to Boston, where she died, and was buried in 1640.
