John Judson was oone f the First settlers of Woodbury, Connecticut. The town of Woodbury, in Litchfield County, was established in 1673.

On 25 October 1674 "John Judson of Stratford with the consent of my wife" sold to "our father-in-law Franses Brown the quarter part of my house that he now lives in". On 23 October 1677 "Thomas Lawrence of Stamford hath sold unto my brother-in-law of Stratford John Judson my part of the homelot lying in Stamford". In an undated deed, which was acknowledged on 7 September 1685, "Francis Brown" sold to "my son Eliezer Slason ... one quarter part of the farm of upland & meadow," in four parcels: five acres of meadow; four acres of upland; five acres of upland; and six acres of upland. (The abutters on these parcels were John Judson, Thomas Lawrence and Francis Brown.)

John Judson, son of Joseph, was born at Stratford, 10 Dec 1647, and died at Woodbury on 12 Jan 1709/1710. Inventory was taken for his estate in Woodbury, Stratford and Stamford on 14 Jan 1709/1710. His wife and widow, Mrs. Mary Judson was given one half of the house in Woodbury.
John married, 12 Mar 1673/74, Elizabeth Chapman, the daughter of John Chapman. Her mother's name was given as Elizabeth in the battismal records.
John married, for the second time, Hannah, the widow of Samuel Ward and previously of Jonathan Nichols, and Hannah was the daughter of Mr. Anthony Howkins. She was born at Farmington about 1661, and died at Woodbury, 23 Jul 1698.
John's third wife was Mary Orton of Farminton. they married, 5 Jul 1699. the marriage covenant mentions her father Tudor and her two sons, John and Samuel Orton, and Judson's two houses at Stratford and Woodbury.
