Noted events in his life were:
• Emigration. 538 William, his wife Grace and their three sons, Josphy, Jeremiah and Joshua came from Yorkshire, England 1634 with his family to Concord Massachusetts, where he lived for 4 years before he moved first to Hartford, Connecticut. In the spring of 1639, he moved with his family to Stratford at its first settlement. Here he resided upon the south-west corner of "Meeting House Hill," but he did not reside there long since he shortly after went to New Haven. He probably had a daughter livinging New Haven.
He took oath of fidelity in New Haven, 8 Mar 1647. He gave his Stratford house and home to son Joseph and home lots to his other two sons at which time he became an owner in the iron works in East Haven.
• Dates & Events. 555 From the History of the Old Town of Stratford, pages 110-111: William Judson, born in Yorkshire, England, emigrated to Concord, Massachusetts, in 1634, and settled in Straford in 1638. He was either the first inhabitant of the place, or close to it.
He later moved to New Haven where he died on 29 Jul 1662, He left a will dated 20th of the ninth mounth, 1661, in which he gives his son Joseph twenty pounds, and to his sons Joseph and Jeremiah Judson "all my part in the iron works (and the privilege I have in it) which are near Stony River, belonging to New Haven."
He also gives five pounds to each of his wife's daughter, Hannah Willmont, Mercy Willmott, and Elizabeth Willmott. He gives his indentured servant, Peter Simson five pounds at the end of his service to encourage him to be a diligent servant to William Judson's wife. He further says that he leaves all the rest "unto my loving and beloved wife Elizabeth Judson."
The inventory of his estate was taken 15 Dec 1662, and amounted to three-hundres pounds sixteen shillings.
Widow, Elizabeth's will was made in January of February, 1685, and the inventory of her estate was taken in 10 Nov 1685, amounting to sixty-three pounds, eight shillings.<
• Background Information. 76 William Judson, was first in Concord, Massachusetts, but was in Hartford, Connecticut by 1639. He later moved to Stratford by 1644. He became interested in the iron works at East Haven village, and settled in New Haven. He took the oath of fidelity in New Haven in 1647, as well as buying the house and orchard of henry Browing.
He first married a woman named Grace who died in New Haven, 29 Sep 1659. His second wife was Elizabeth, widow of Benhamin Wilmot, Jr. In 1660, he gave his Stratford lands to his three sonsl
His will of 20 Nov. 1661, mentions his old age, as well as Joseph as his oldest son, and that both sons, Joseph and Heremiah were to have his interest in the iron works near Stony River. He named his wife's daughters, Hannah, Mercy and Elizabeth Wilmont as well as his servant Peter Simpson. Inventor was taken on 15 Dec 1662. His widow died in 1685, leaving a while.
