Augstín Sáez, son of Captain Ambrosio Sáez and Ana Rodríguez, enlisted at Parral for the Reconquest of 1693. His family was one of the families that had to vacate Santa Fé on 27 Dec 1693 when the Tanos decided to fight for the town instead of departing peacefully. He had been warned beforehand by an Indian who had served his father before the Rebellion of 1680.

His first wife was Leonor de Herrera, who died at Guadalupe del Paso before 1692. He next married Antonia Márquz who was dead by 1709. He applied to marry Isabel Madrid, yet that marriage never took place. In 1701, he was banished from Santa Fé for adulterous relations while his Márquez wife was still living.

Some of his children with Antonia Márquez were Francisco and Juliana. Francisco married Juana de Herrera in 1718, when his mother is mentioned as deceased. Juliana became the wife of Juan Griego of Albuquerque.

Agustín Sáes [ONMF: 100, 278 & 390] was married three times. His first wife was Leonor de Herrera and his second wife was Antonia Márquez as identified by Chávez. His third wife was Pascuala Vásquez [ONMF: 390], widow of Juan Romero, by whom he had at least one son, Lazaro Sáez (aka Sáenz). Lazaro was married at the church of San Juan de los Caballeros on 1 December 1731 with Juana de Castro, named as a daughter of Cristóbal de Castro (q.v. Rodarte) and Bernarda Gamboa from Río Arriba. In this record, the names of Lazaro's parents are given.

Lazaro Sáez and Juana de Castro appear to have settled at Santa Fe. The 1750 census of Santa Fe lists Juana de Castro without her husband who was perhaps deceased by this time. In her houshold were these children, presumably hers by Lazaro Sáes: Antonia Paula (Sáes; perhaps the person of this named married with Luis Pineda and a resident of Santa Fe), Santiago(Sáes), Manuel (Sáes), and three other children not named. This family may be one of two progenitors of the Sáes family of Santa Fe.

Agustín married Antonia Márquez, daughter of Nicolas Márquez and Ana María Montoya Pacheco, on 31 Dec 1694 in Santa Fé, Nuevo Méjico, Nueva España.²⁵² (Antonia Márquez died before 1709.)

Agustín next married Pascuala Vasquez in 1710 in Santa Fé, Nuevo Méjico, Nueva España.²⁴⁸
