Captain Pedro Romero shows up again in the Spanish Archives, Vol. I on p. 43 as one of the grantees of Belén Land Grant in 1767.

In the 1760s, San Gabriel de las Nutrias was a short lived settlement in the Rio Abajo south of Tomé and Belen, across the Rio Grande and south of Sabinal. In 1764 and 1765 two census records were taken of the settlers.
