Baltasar Romero was twenty-six years old in 1699, when he stated that he was a native of New Mexico and a resident of Bernalillo. He married Francisca Gongora on January 22, 1703. In 1732 he bought some land in Taos in favor of his brothers and sisters, Juan Jose, AnaMaria, Antonia, and Domingo Mariano, signing the deed with his sons, Felipe and Pedro.

His known children were: Gregorio, born 7 May 1704; María Gregoria, born 19 Jan 1707 and who married Luís Lucero in 1719 [Roots Ltd., Diligencias Matrimoniales, p.1719]; Felipe de Santiago, born 7 May 1709; José and Pedro, mentioned above his with his brother Felipe.

Baltasar Romero and Francisca de Góngora had a daughter, María, who married Luis Lucero in 1719 (DM, 1719, no. 17). At Albuquerque, in 1708, Jacinta, 14, daughter of Baltasar Romero and Francisca Montoya, deceased, married Francisco Xavier Benavides (DM, 1708, no. 8).

Baltasar Romero was listed as a soldier at the presidio in El Paso in 1693. He is again on the roster in 1702. In 1703, he married Francisca Góngora. By 1708, he had settled in the Alburquerque area.
