• Background Information. 141 Simon Tuceht, son and heir of Henry Tuchet, was fined 1m. in Nottinghampshire in 1178. In 1187, the "Honor of Chester" was in the hand's of the King, and Simon was excused his own scutage of 60s. because he collected scutage and other moneys due to the Crown. Sometime between 1188 and 1197, Abbot Nichols of Burton Abbey confirmed him in tenure of the Abbey's manor of Willington, Derbyshire, which John de Cumbrai had granted to Simon. Simon also witnessed a charter of Richard de Curzon concerning Kedleston, Derbyshire, 1198/99, and essoined himself at the Lichfield assizes in 1203. Simon married Petronilla, most likely the daughter of Roger de Cumbrai and coheir of another Roger de Cumbrai. Simon died, circa 1203-1205. Petronilla was still living in 1218.
