• Background Information. 917 Patrick Bunbury was the father of Alexander de Bunbury, living A. D. 1230. Alexander de Bunbury had two sons : William, the elder, was the ancestor of the Bunburys of Stanney; and Henry, the younger, marring the daughter and heiress of William de Beeston, took that name and was ancestor of the Beestons of Beeston, who bore the old St. Pierre coast of arms.

• Background Information. 848 Henry de Bunbury, the first lord of Bunbury, was living during the reign of King Stephen and had a brother named David. He was succeeded by his son named William, who was in turn succeeded by his son named Humphrey. Humphrey had two daughters, Ameria and Joan, who, at the time of their father's death, were not yet of age. They were in the custody of Robert Patrick, who was very likely their uncle. When they came of age, Ameria's portion went to the Patrick family, and Joan's went to her kinsman, Alexander de Bunsbury, the great grandson of David, brother of Henry.
