• Background Information. 599 Sir Gerard de Braybrooke married Isabel or Elizabeth Dakeny, daughter of Sir Roger Dakeny of Cliphill, Gedfordshire by Joan, daughter and heiress of Richard Cave. They had five sons, Gerard, John, Nicholas, Robert and Reginald, as well as one daughter, Alice who married John Carbonel and Sir John Kentwood.
Sir Gerard was closely connected with the Earl of Kent, Edmund of Woodstock, serving with him against the Despensers in 1326. He frought at Crécy in the division of the "Black Prince."
