He ruled jointly with his twin brother Berenguer Ramon II. Ramón was killed by his brother in 1082. Ramón married Mahalta of Apulia, daughter of Duke Robert Guiscard and Sikelgaita de Salerno. After his death, Maud remarried Aimery I of Narbonne, and was the mother of Aimery II. Ramon Berenguer and Mahalt's son, Ramon Berenguer III was the count of Barcelona and Provence.
Ramón married Dolça de Gévaudun comtess de Provence, daughter of Gerbert de Gévaudun vicomte de Millau et Carlat and Geberge de Provence, in 1112.160 (Dolça de Gévaudun comtess de Provence was born about 1095 in Provence and died on 28 Nov 1127-1130.)
