John Schedde, born about 1415, begins to appear on the manor court rolls of Sudbury in 1455, or about eight years after the death of his father, and is mentioned on them frequently for over a score of year until his death early in the year 1467. Among the numerous entries about him are the following:

Court held on Hoke Monday, we Henry VI. (5 Apr 1445); John Schedde and John Herde each fined 2d. for not prosecuting their suits against each other for trespass.

Court held 16 Oct 31 Henry VI (1452); John Schedde and William Randolf elected constables.

Court held 26 Mar 31 Henry VI (1453): John Eyres sued John Schedde in a plea of trespass, and John Schedde sued John Eyres in a plea of debt, and the goods of Eyres were attached to the value of 3d.

Court held 13 May 31 Henry (1453); John Schedde paid 6d. for licence to settle by arbitration with John Eyres in two pleas of trespass, and paid fine of 6d. for not prosecuting his suits.
Court held on Monday before the Feast of St. Luke 33 Henry VI (14 Oct 1545); John Ficches paid 3d. for license to settle with John Schedde in a pleas of debt.

Court held on Hoke Monday, 34 Henry VI (5 Apr 1456; the jury presented the wife of John Schedde for assaulting the maid-servant of George Prentys and drawing blood; therefore she was adjudged in mercy 6d.

Court held on Monday before Pentecost, 34 Henry VI (10 May 1456); George Prentys complained against John Schedde in a plea of trespass.

Court held on Hoke Monday, 36 Henry VI (10 Apr 1458); John Schedde served as one of the jurors.

Court held on Monday after the Feast of St. Hilary, 1 Edward IV (18 Jan 1461/62); John Coteler and Walter Dolych appeared to answer John Schedde in pleas of debt.

Court held on Monday after the Feast of the Purification of the Virgin, 1 Edward IV (8 Feb 1461/62); John Schedde paid find of 3d. each for not prosecuting these suits against Coteler and Colich.

Court held 24 May, 2 Edward IV (1462); John Coteler and Walter Dolych proceeded against John Schedde in pleas of debt; both adjudged in mercy 3d. John Schedde for unjust complaints against Coteler and Dolych, in mercy 3d. in each case.

Court held 7 May, 4 Edward IV (1464); Henry Sethenge complained against John Schedde in a pleas of debt.

Court held 4 Jun, 4 Edward IV (1464); John Schedde applied for licence to agree with Henry Sethenge in the latter's plea of debt.

Court held Hoke Monday, 7 Edward VI (6 Apr 1467): the executors of the will of John Schedde presented by the jury for his dumping manure on the King's highway, under the wall of the Friary, to the damage of the neighbors: adjudged in mercy and fined 3d.

Further information about John Schedde can be derived from his will which shows that he was a fuller (as his had been), that he was a man of good substance for his times, and that he left a widow and three adult children at his death in early 1467.

His will was written by the priest in Latin (testamentary documents before 1500 were always written in that language) and was filed in the Consistory Court of the Bishop of Norwich, and later proved in the Prerogative Court of the Archbishop of Canterbury. The probate courts of England were ecclesiastical, rather than civil until 1858. This John Schedde was of course a Roman Catholic in religion, as were his ancestors and his children and grandchildren. The Church of England had not be established until the lifetimes of his great grandchildren.

His will:
In the name of god, Amen, the 16 day March, A.D. 1466/67, I John Schedde of Sudbury, in the Diocese of Norwich, fuller, weak in body but sound in mind, make my testament as follows, I commend my soul to God, St. Mary the virgin, and all the saints of Heaven; and I will my body to be buried in consecrated cemetery in said Sudbury. I give to the high altar of St. Peter's Chapel in Sudbury, 3s. 4d. I give to the Friars of Sudbury, for the reparation of their house, 5 marks. I give to the Friars of Clare 3s. 4d. I will that masses be celebrated in St. Peter's Chapel for a year after my decease, for my soul and for the souls of my parents, my executors paying to the priest 8 marks 6s. 8d. sterling. I give for the reparations of the Chapel of St. Peter in Sudbury, 6s. 8d. I give for the reparations of the church of Lamarsh, 6s. 8d. I bequeath to my wife, Alice, a house with appurtenances in the Parish of All Saints in Sudbury. I bequeath to my said wife Alice all my household utensils and twenty pounds in money. I bequeath to my son William 10 marks in money. I bequeath to my son John when of age a house will all appurtenances lying in Cherwyth. I give to my daughter Lettice and her sons 7 marks in money. I will that the mansion I live in and the two adjoining houses be sold by my executors to pay my debts and legacies. I bequeath to Emme Goldyng 6s. 8d. I will that if William my son desires, he may purchase the house in which he lives in preference to any other person. All residue of goods to Simon Sparrow and William Gebelon of said Sudbury, whom I ordain and constitute my executors; and I give to them for their pains 20s. Proved 24 Apr 1467

John Schedde married a woman named Alice in about 1440, who survived him. Their children, probably all born in Sudbury were:
