William de Braose Lord of Bramber and Gower

Sir William de Braose founght in Gascony in 1294, and was actively employed in the wars in Scotland from 1298-1306. He was summoned to Parliament from 29 Dec 1299 to 18 Sep 1322, by write directed to Willelmo de Brewosa. He died sometime shortly before 1 May 1326.

Sir William de Brewes or Brewose or Braose, Lord of Bramer and Gower was the son and heir of Sir William de Braose and his first wife, Aline de Multon. Sir William succeeded his father on 1 Mar 1290/1. He was summoned cum equis et armis from 14 Jun 1294 until 18 Apr 1323. On 8 Jun 1294, he was summoned b write to attend the King at Salisbury, 26 Jan 1296/7, and to Parliament from 29 Dec 1299 until 18 Sep 1322. In the writ he was styled Willelmo de Brewosa. As Willelmus de Breuhosa dominus de Gower, he took part in the Barons' letter to the Pope, 12 Feb 1300/1.

The name of his first wife is not known. For his second second wife, he married Elizabeth, daughter and heir of Sir Raymund de Sully, of Sully, Glamorgan. Sir William died shortly before 1 May 1326. He left two daughter and coheirs. Aline married, as her first husband, Sir John de Mowbray, of Axholme, Lincholnshire, in 1298, at Swansea. Sir John Mowbray was hanged at York after the battle of Boroughbride, 21 Mar 1321/1. Aline married for a second time to sir Ricahrd de Peshale. His second daughter Joan, married Sir James de Bohun, and second, Sir Richard Foliot of Greenhall.
