• Background Information. 141 Theobald Boteler, only son and heir of Theobald Fitz Walter, was age six years old in 1206. He had livery of his estates 2 Jul 1221 and 18 Jul 1222. He was summoned cum equis et armis to attend the King into Bretagne, 26 Oct 1229 as Theobaldus Pincerna. He was Lord Justice in 1247. He married as his 1st wife, Joan, sister and in her issue coheir of John du Marais, daughter of Geoffrey du Marais, Justiciar. His 2nd wife was Rohese, the only daughter and heiress of Nicholas de Verdon, of Alton, Staffordshire, which Rohese was heiress of Croxden and Foundress of Grace Dieu Monastery, county Leicester. Theobald died 19 Jul 1230 in Poitou, and was buried in the Abbey of Arklow. His widow died before 22 Feb 1246/7.

• Background Information. 721 Theobald Butler (le Boteler), was age 6 in 1206 and died in Poitou 19 Jul 1230. He was buried in the Abbey of Arklow, Ireland. He first married Joan du Marais, who was sister of John du Marais, and daughter of Geoffrey du Marais, Justiciar of Ireland. The inheritance followed the death of Sir Stephen de Marreys, of whom Joah Butler was great-aunt.
Theobald's second wife was Rohese de Verdun sometime after 4 Sep 1225. Rohese de Verdun was the heiress of Croxden and the founder of Grace Dieu Monastery in Leicestershire. Her inheritance included Brandon Castle in Warwickshire, Belton in Leicestershire, and Farnham Royal in Buckinghamshire as well as holdings in Ireland. She died before 22 Feb 1256/47.
On 2 July 1221 and 18 July 1222 he had livery of his estates. On 26 Oct 1229, he was summoned with horse and arms to attend King Henry III in Brittany as Theobaldus Pincerna.
