Gonzalo Núñez de Soto's name appears of a list of founders of Zamorain 1574. On 9 Nov 1580, Franciscan friars went door to door in Zamora to encourage everyone to come to their new monastery for a special mass or face excommunication and a fine. The friars made a list of the households they visited. On this this list, Gonzalo Núñez de Soto is listed with his wife, Bernardina de Mendoza.

Based on church records from Zamora and Guadalajara, the children of Gonzalo Núñez de Soto and Bernardina de Mendoza were:

• Juana Núnez de Soto, born circa 1554-1560, and died in Zamora. She was buried on 1 Dec 1654. Juana was married to Captain Diego Ochoa Garibay, son of Martín de Garibay, who originally came from Biscay, Spain and wife, María de Solis.

• Catalina de Mendoza, died 10 Apr 1658, in Guadalajara, wife of Baltazard de la Peña, who died before Catalina.
