• Background Information. 927 Isabel was the only child and heir of Richard de Camville, who was third son of Richad de Camville, who founded Combe Abbey in Warwickshire, and so the son and heir of Gerard de Camville, Lord of Lilbourne, near Creek, in Northamptonshire. Isabel's mother was Milicent, cousin to King Henry I's second consort, Adeliza, or Adelicia, daughter of Godfrey I, Duke of Brabant. Adeliza gave Milicent, on her marriage to Richard Camville, the Lordship of Stanton, which was confirmed to her and her heirs, by King Stephen and King Henry II.
