Matilda was the daughter of Hugh II Duke of Burgundy who was born about 1085 and died in 1143 and Mathilda of Mayenne, who died after 1162. Hugh II was the son of Eudes I, Duke of Burgundy by his wife Matilda of Burgundy.
William VIII, Seigneur de Montpellier married Eudoxia Comneus, who was born about 1167 and they were divorced so she could become a nun in 1202. They married about 1178/9. Eudoxia was the daughter of Alexius Comneus and Maria Dukas. Eudoxia and William VIII were the parents of Maria Dame of Montpellier.

• Web Reference: William VII of Montpellier. William VII of Montpellier was the eldest son of William VI and of his wife Sibylle. Aged around 15, he inherited the lordship of Montpellier from his father in 1146 under the tutelage of his grandmother, Ermessende of Melgueil. In 1156 he married Matilda of Burgundy, daughter of Hugh II, Duke of Burgundy.
