• Web Reference: Lady Elizabeth Bryan. Elizabeth, Lady Carew, was an English courtier and reputed mistress of Henry VIII. She was the daughter of Sir Thomas Bryan and his wife, Margaret, daughter of Sir Humphrey Bourchier. Elizabeth married Sir Nicholas Carew, close friend of Henry VIII, and an influential statesman who was eventually executed for his alleged involvement in the Exeter Conspirary.
