Sir Thomas de Hungerford was the son of Walter de Hungerford of Heytesbury, Wiltshire, by his marriage to Elizabeth, daughter and heir of Sir Adam Fitz John of Cherhill, Wilshire. Hungerford died at Farleigh on 3 December 1398, and was buried in the chapel of the castle. He married, firstly, Eleanor, daughter and heir of Sir John Strug of Heytesbury, and secondly, Joan, heir of Sir Edmund Hussey of Holbrook. By his second wife, who died 1 Mar 1412, he was father of Walter, lord Hungerford, and three other sons who predeceased him.

Joan Hussey and Sir Thomas Hungerford were the parents of Sir Walter Hungerford, born about 1378, died 9 Aug 1449, 1^st Lord Hungerford, Speaker of the House of Parliament, Sheriff of Somerset and Dorset, Constable of Windsor Castle, Steward to the Household of Henry V and Henry VI, and Lord High Treasure. Sir Walter Hungerford married Catherine Perverll, daughter of Thomas Peverell and Margaret Courtenay.

Sir Thomas lord Hungerford was the son of Sir Walter de Hungerford by Elizabeth his wife, the daughter of Sir Adam Fitz John, and the grandson of Sir Giles Hungerford, who married Maud the heiress of Heytesbury in Wiltshire. Sir Thomas's chief residence was at Farley, where he turned the old mansion into a castle. Sir Thomas married twice, his first wife was named Eleanor, and with whom he had no issue. His second wife was Joan daughter of Sir Edmund Hussy, by whom he had four sons, Rodolph, Thomas, John (who died in the life time of his father) and Sir Walter, who succeeded him in the estate. Sir Thomas died 3 Dec 1398 and was buried under the great arch in the chapel of Farley Castle. His wife, Joan, survived him, died 1 Mar 1412, and was bured near her husband, Sir Thomas.
