There were two brothers, Wethenoc & Baderon, whose names indicate they are Brenton in origin. A charter dated 4 Feb (circa 1075/86) records the confirmation by William I King of England of a donation to Saumur Saint-Florent by "Wethenocus de Monmouth", witnessed by "Alano comite et Baderono fratre Wethenoci et ipso Wethenoco…" [Monmouth, II, p. 16, and Regesta Regum Anglo-Normannorum (1913), Vol. I, 227, p. 60]. "Baderon de Monemue" donated property in Monmouth to Monmouth Priory, with the consent of "filiorum meorum Gileberti et Jacobi", by undated charter witnessed by "…Waltero Marmiun…" [Dugdale Monasticon IV, Monmouth Priory, II, p. 596]. Baderon was to have at least four children, William, Robert, Ivo and an unamed dauther who became a nun at Rennes Saint-Georges.
