John de Hulme
Information about this person:
• Background Information. 713 Ralph de Wilburham's second wife & the mother of his son Thomas, was Felice, daughter of John de Hulme.
~George Ormerod's The History of County Palatine and City of Chester, Vol. III, p. 379
The "Hulme House" or "Pasture" extate in Over Alderley was composed of lands, probably manerial and which included 200 acres of wood, granted (under the name of Ulm), by the Montalts to the Walravens. This most probably was the subject of subinfeudation among members of the latter family, and one of the descendants of which was perhaps John de Burthells, a scion of whose family seems to have acquired the local name of Hulme.
