• Background Information. 141 Sir John Grey married, as his first wife, Emma, daughter and coheir of Geoffrey de Glanville, by whom he had a son Reynold, who presumably died s.p. and a daughter Emma, who married William de Huntingfield and brought her husband the Glanville manor of Alderton.

• Background Information. 141 Sir William de Huntingfield, of Huntingfield and Mendham, Suffolk, East Bradenham, Norfolk, Boxworth in Cambride, Frampton in Lincoln, &c, was the son and heir of Sir Roger de Huntingfield, of Huntingfield, &c, by his second wife, Joan, daughter and coheir of William de Hobrugg. On 22 Oct 1257, his mother purchased for 100 marks the wardship of his lands. Sir William is recorded as 20 years of age at the feast of St. Bartholomew, next after 10 Jul 41 Henry III.
Sir William was on the side of the Barons against the King in the Baron's War. On 12 Jan 1265/6, he had safe conduct coming to the King's court, provided he stood his trial. He had safe conduct to come again to the King's court on 3 Feb 1265/6 and 2 Aug 1266, when he made peace with the King. He was pardoned 28 Jul 1267, and was to stand to the award of Kenilworth. He was summoned for Military Service from 6 Mar 1263/4 until 14 Jun 1287, by writs directed to Willelmo de Huntingfeud or Huntingfeld.
