• Background Information. 784 Sir Roger de Buron, gave certain lands to the church of Swinsted, and the mond there, as appears by confirmation by Henry II (III ?), in whose reign, he paid 10£ scutage for ten knights fee in Notthinghamshire and Derbyshire. Also in 6 Richard I , on the aid of 20s for each knight's fees in the beforemention counties. Likewise, in the first year of King John, he answered for ten knights fees toward the scutage of Normandy, then assessed at two marks for each knight's fee. He married Nichola, duaghter of Roeland de Verdon, who survived him, and married as her second husband, Anketin de Krikesard; but being married without the King's consent, her lands were seized, and for some of them she was fined in II John.
Children of Roger and Nichola were: Robert Peter, who had a son, John de Byron, living during the reign of Edward I, and who married Christian de Birltes, widow of Roger de Manwaring.
