• Background Information. 173 About 1300, Joan, the eldest daughter of Thomas Crewe, the last male heir of the elder branch of the family, married Richard Praers, whos granddaughter brought Crewe, in marriage, to Sir Robert Fulleshurst or Foulshurst, one of Lord Audley's Esquires at the battle of Poictiers. Sir Christopher Hatton purchased it of the Foulshurts in 1578.

• Background Information. 713 Sir Robert Foulshurst of Crue, Knight, son and heir, born at Over Pever, at age 21 in 18 Henry VI, and living 14 Edward 4. He married Joan, daughter and heir of Sir Richard Vernon of Shipbrook, Knight, as well as heir to her mother Eleanor. Robert's obituray was dated 1498 and his inquisition post mortem took place in 14 Henry VII. Children given by Ormerod are: • Thomas Fouleshurt of Crue, son and heir, was in London in 1498, and his inquisition post mortem took place 14 Henry VII. He married Anne.
