Sir John de Booth was the son and heir of Sir Thomas Booth, of Barton, by Ellen, daughter of Robert de Workesley, son and heir of John Booth, living in the reign of King Edward, by Agnes, daughter and heir of Gilbert de Barton, Lord of Barton, near Eccles, Lancashire. 781

• Background Information. 1307 The fifth Henry was the grandson of John and son of Henry. He was knighted, "and in 1373 he sealed as "arms of affection" those of Grelley, Lord of the Manor of Manchester. He married Margery, daughter of Robert Ince, and Lady of Chorlton, by whom he had issue:
• Henry, who succeeded him • John • Johanna, who married Sir John Booth of Barton • Margaret

• Background Information. 826 Sir Henry de Trafford was succeeded by his grandson Henry, also a knight [Assize R. 435, m. 17], who died between 1373 and 1376, leaving a son Henry under age. At Easter 1376 Henry de Torbock claimed the custody of lands in Turton until the coming of age of Henry son and heir of Sir Henry de Trafford [De Banco R. 462, m. 89; 463, m. 67] .
