• Background Information. 242 ~Collections for a History of Staffordshire, Vol. 20, Preshale Pedigree, pp. 98, shows Adam de Peshale, also known as Adam de Whethales, d. 1315, married Anne, related to Adam de Whethales. Their children are shown as:
• Sir Richard de Peshale, kt. of Eccleshall and Peshale, knight 1331, sheriif of Staffordshire and Salop, 1333, 1334, 1339, and living in 1343.
• John "son of Adam de Whethales, living 1320 and 1331.
• Adam de Preshale of Horseley and Eccleshall, and of Bishop's Offley, Bailiff of Liberty of Bishop of Cov. and Lichfield 1340, Sheriff of Stafforshire, 1341, "Adam de Peshale 1324, and Adam son of Adam de whethales 1320.
• Background Information. 732 Adam and his brother Richard both appear in the Plea Rolls as both "de Peshale" and "de Whethale." They may have ued de Whethale to distinguish themselves from Peshales of the earlier Peshale family who were still living in the same generation as Adam and Richard. Adam's wife, Anna, is found in the Plea Rolls of 9 Edward II (1316), Adam's wife Anna is named as Anna the widow of Adam de Whethale. Adam is also a witness to a deed of John de Swynnerton of Isewall in 1315 under the name Adam de Whethale. Anna, the wife of Adam was a widow in 1315, and her sons Richard, John and Adam were all living in 1319.
