• Background Information. 252 Salvador Montoya married Manuela Garcia de la Riva in Bernalillo on April 25, 1700, where he had gone to live with his parents after the Reconquest, and in 1715 he was a Regent of the "Kingdom." He was a member of the Confraternity of La Conquistadora. He made his last will in 1727, while residing in Santa Fe as "Regidor." After naming his parents and his wife, he declared the following three sons and two daughters as his children: José Francisco, Miguel, José Manuel, Francisca, and Josefa. Of the sons, José (Francisco) was born on July 30, 1701, and was living in Valle de San Buenaventura in Nueva Vizcaya as late as 1733.24 Miguel married Rosa Baca in 1729, and then Lucía de Chávez in 1734. One of the girls, Josefa, became the wife of José Antonio Benavides.

• Web Reference: Salvador Montoya ~ 1727 Will. Salvador Montoya made his will in 1727. He declared himself the son of Diego Montoya, deceased, and Josefa de Ynojos, Spaniards and natives of New Mexico. He said that he had been married to doña Mnuela García de la Rivas and that their children were: José Francisco, Miguel José, Manuel Antonio, Francisca and Josefa Montoya. Salvador mentions land that had belongs to his mother-in-law, Micaela de Belasco and Micaela's son, Juan García de la Rivas. He also mentions his two bother-in-laws, Pedro de Chávez and Baltasar Romero, who he also calls his compadre. He names his siter Ysabel and brother, Antonio, who he named as his executor along with his compadre, Francisco Guerrero.
