Gertrudes Griego
- Marriage: Francisco Antonio Torres 442
General Notes:
It is very possible that Gertrudes is the Gertrudes Griego that married Antonio Torres at San Juan Pueblo on 8 Jul 1756. Both Antonio and Gertrudes were listed as being from Chama.
Marriages at San Juan and Santa Clara Pueblos, p. 9
Gertrudes may have been related to Tewa leader Juan Griego who conspired with Lucas Naranjo against the Spanish return to the Río Arriba. Since Casilda Torres is called a Coyote it would make sense for her mother to be Tewa as well as her grandmother, who may be Catarina Naranjo. 442
Noted events in her life were:
• Family Connection: 441 Casilda Torres baptized on 16 Apr 1760, hija de Francisco Torres y Gertrudes, vecinos de Chama, Padrinos Casilda Mestas.
Santa Clara Baptisms, p. 18
Gertrudes married Francisco Antonio Torres, son of Salvador Torres and Catarina Naranjo.442 (Francisco Antonio Torres was born about 1720-1740 in Nuevo Méjico, Nueva España.)
