• Family Background Information. Miguel de la Cruz de Lara's heritage was half Black and half Indian. He died before his wife and children came to New Mexico.
• Background Information. 252 Among the colonists from Zacatecas were a Juana de Ancizo de la Cruz, who married Francisco Pérez de la Rosa in 1698; Josefa de la Encarnación, wife of Ignacio Losano; and María de Ancizo, wife of Agustín de la Cruz. They were the daughters of Miguel dela Cruz de Lara and Juana de Ancizo. The latter, or else the younger Juana, is referred to as the mother (mother-in-law?) of Cristóbal Crespín, and was very likely the Juana de la Cruz, called "La Mozonga," who died in Santa Fe, May 9, 1727.
