"Roger de Cuerden had issue a son and heir Simon, who was living in 1253, when he made a covenant with John Woodcock and Glibert, his brother, not to alienate the homage and service which they owed him, without their consent. The manor of Cuerden is said to have passed to the said Gilbert Woodcock, and through his daughter and heiress Alice, to her husband Sir Robert Banastre, Lord of Makerfield.
