In his last will and testiment, Lope de Argüelles names himself as the legitimate son of Diego de Argüelles of Candamo and doña María de Quirós y Miranda, his legitimate wife. He continues by stating that Diego de Argülles was the legitimate son of Estebano de Argüelles, Señor y Mayorazgo de la Casa (Lord and eldest male heir of Estate of the house) and doña María González Valdéz, his wife. Estebano de Argüelles was the legitimate eldest son of Gonzalo Rodríguez de Argüelles, Señor y Mayorazgo of the said Cada de Argüelles in Oviedo, and of doña Juana de Quirós, his wife.

Diego married María de Quirós y Miranda, daughter of Diego de Quirós and Señorita de Miranda.¹⁵⁷² (María de Quirós y Miranda was born in España, Iberia.)
