• Background Information. 601 Joan Kirby Hale married John Bydes or Bides sometime after the death of her husband Thomas. She was living in Oct 1640, which was at the date of her mother's will, and she died before Jul 1660, the date of her brother, Francis's will.
Joan Kirby Hale Bidens' father's name is not known, but her mother was also named Joane. Her mother made an oral will, dated 29 Oct 1640 in the presence of her three children, Francis Kirby, Joane Bides and Ruth Brown, which was proved by the executor in the court of Archdeconry of Hitchin on 2 Dec 1640. Joan's mother gave the poor of Watton, where she was born, 20 shilling, to the poor of Little Munden, where she lived, 20 shillings, and 20 shillings to her grandchildren and children. She made Francis Kirby the sole executor.
