• Background Information. 1549 Lawrence Waters emigrated to America from England and settled in Watertown, Massachusetts, before 1634. Born in 1602, in England; married Ann Linton. They lived in Woburn, Massachusetts, then removed to and built the first house in Lancaster, Worcester County, Massachusetts. Was in Charlestowm, 20 Mar 1675 and died 7 Dec 1687. "He and his wife were warned for having danced."

Services: "Lawrence Water, proprietor of Watertown 1636-1637. One of three men sent to make purchase sure for settlement of Lancaster 1643. In 1647, there were at least three permanent settlers of the plantations of Lancaster, Richard Linton, Lawrence Waters and John Prescott, all from Watertown. Soldier in King Philip's War; garrison on his property. Crossing the river about twenty rods above "Sprague Bridge" the first house and lot No. 18 was Lawrence Waters."
• Background Information. 689 Lawrence Waters, a carpenter of Watertown, was one of three sent up, in 1645, by grantees of the Nashaway Plantation, to make suitable preparation for their own coming. By his wife, Ann Linton, he had six children born in wather town. The proprietors assigned him a lot upon which he built a house. Lawrence became a freeman in 1663/ After the massacre of 1676, he is found with his wife and Samuel with his wife and two children seeking shelter in Charlestown. Lawrence was blind at the time, and later died 9 Dec 1687, in Charlestown, aged about eighty-five yers, outliving his wife by seven years.
